Training
Training rates and length (quantity of lessons) vary based on what you want covered during training, and your dogs learning pace.
Ask about our free in home consultation to determine the wants and needs you have for your dog. Most of our training is done right in your home and neighborhood so that your dog learns how to behave in it’s normal environment.
Typical training sessions last about an hour. In that hour there will be some initial bonding time to get through the “Oh my goodness, you’re here!” excitement, the training period (30-40 minutes, and a fun finish. The fun finish is very important! Your dog will be exhausted from the mental stimulation and work that is training, but for everyone’s relationship you always want to end on a positive note to keep learning a fun experience!
Yes, there will be homework. My job is to give you the skills and tools for training. Ultimately, the actual training is on your part. So every day you will need to work in at least 10 minutes of training to practice what you learned that week. Don’t fret if you don’t have 10 minutes all at once, you can practice a task 10 times in just a minute or 2, and come back to it later.
